Questa sera alle 19.00 ci sarà l’apertura di armada, nuovo artist-run space di Milano in Via Privata Don B. Grazioli 73, con la prima mostra in italia di Cheng Ran, artista cinese che ha recentemente partecipato ad importanti collettive al Palais de Tokyo, Perrotin Hong Kong e Balice Hertling.
Intitolata Always I Trust, la mostra comprende i video Always I Trust (2014), Simply Wild (2014) e la nuova stampa XoXo Kiss (2014). Alle 20.00 Li Jianhong, Li Qing, Wei Wei, Wang Ziheng, tra i più rappresentativi musicisti della scena underground noise cinese, performeranno live la versione ri-arrangiata di Always I Trust, uno dei video in mostra.
La mostra, supportata da Galerie Urs Meile, Beijing/Lucerne, si svolge parallelamente a “Inside China: L’Intérieur du Géant, ” la collettiva curata da Jo-ey Tang presso il Palais de Tokyo a Parigi, che include opere di Cheng Ran, Renaud Jerez, Li Gang, Edwin Lo, Nadar, Aude Pariset, Wu Hao, Yu Ji and Zhao Yao.
Cheng Ran (1981, Inner Mongolia) vive e lavora tra Hangzhou e Amsterdam. Le sue mostre personali includono “Telephone Booth Romance” presso Leo Xu Projects, Shanghai; ”Existence Without Air, Food, or Water” presso Galerie Urs Meile, Lucerne; e “Cheng Ran” presso Video Bureau, Guangzhou. I lavori dell’artista sono stati presentati in svariate mostre collettive presso Galerie Perrotin, Hong Kong; Galerie Balice Hertling, Parigi; e 8th Shenzhen Sculpture biennale. Cheng Ran è stato selezionato tra i candidati per l’ “Absolut Art Award” (2013), e ha vinto il premio “Best Video Artist” (2011) organizzato dal magazine online Randian.

armada is pleased to announce the opening of its new space with the first solo exhibition in Italy by Cheng Ran.
Titled “Always I Trust, ” the exhibition includes video works Always I Trust (2014), Simply Wild (2014) and the new print work XoXo Kiss (2014). A re-arranged version of the video work Always I Trust will be live performed by Li Jianhong, Li Qing, Wei Wei and Wang Ziheng, some of the most representative musicians from the Chinese underground noise scene.
The show runs parallel to “Inside China: L’Intérieur du Géant, ” a group show curated by Jo-ey Tang at Palais de Tokyo in Paris, which includes works by Cheng Ran, Renaud Jerez, Li Gang, Edwin Lo, Nadar, Aude Pariset, Wu Hao, Yu Ji and Zhao Yao.
Cheng Ran (b. 1981, Inner Mongolia) lives and works in Hangzhou and Amsterdam.
