L’ex direttore di miart, Vincenzo De Bellis, dopo quattro anni di direzione artistica della fiera di arte moderna e contemporanea di Milano parte per l’America, dove il Walker Art Center di Minneapolis gli ha proposto di diventare il nuovo curatore per le arti visive. 

Sin da subito ci si chiedeva chi sarebbe stato il suo “successore”, chi avrebbe portato avanti un intensissimo lavoro di quattro anni svolto con massima cura e tenacia, e con ottimi risultati. Quest’anno, d’altra parte, per la prima volta dopo tre anni di direzione artistica, De Bellis ha deciso di affiancare a sé un vice-direttore: Alessandro Rabottini, curatore e critico italiano che nelle edizioni 2013, 2014 e 2015 della fiera ne era stato coordinatore. Ecco, da poco Corrado Peraboni, amministratore delegato di Fiera Milano ha annunciato che Rabottini stesso ricoprirà l’incarico di direttore artistico della fiera miart di Milano per l’edizione del prossimo anno (in programma dal 31 marzo al 2 aprile 2017) e che da subito si metterà al lavoro.

“Sono onorato di assumere questo nuovo ruolo all’interno di miart – ha dichiarato Alessandro Rabottini – dopo aver fatto parte per quattro anni del team guidato da Vincenzo de Bellis, che ringrazio per avermi voluto con sé fin dall’inizio del suo mandato. Sono stati anni entusiasmanti per l’energia con cui la città, le gallerie, i collezionisti, le istituzioni, la stampa e il pubblico hanno contribuito al nostro lavoro, e sento una grande responsabilità nell’ereditare un progetto così ricco di voci, prospettive e potenzialità. Per questo ringrazio Fiera Milano per la fiducia che ripone in me attraverso questo incarico. Attraverso il progetto di miart 2017 desidero continuare a sviluppare il contesto con cui la fiera ormai si identifica: un luogo di qualità e di scoperta, un crocevia di dialoghi tra storia e sperimentazione, arte visiva e design, tradizione e innovazione. Un luogo internazionale, ma frutto di un lavoro e di un’identità italiani.“

Milan, 2 May 2016 – Alessandro Rabottini has been appointed as the new Artistic Director of miart, the international fair of modern and contemporary art of Milan.

With the selection of Alessandro Rabottini, a curator with extensive international experience, Fiera Milano underscores its policy of continuity with respect to the achievements of the last four editions of miart directed by Vincenzo de Bellis, with whom Rabottini has worked from the outset, first as curatorial coordinator (2013, 2014 and 2015) and then as Deputy Director for the 2016 edition.

Alessandro Rabottini will immediately begin to focus on the preparation of the 22nd edition of miart, scheduled for 31 March – 2 April 2017.
